FAQ's
No, we are a rehabilitation clinic and do not provide any veterinary medical services.
We have a degree in Physiotherapy and have taken extensive post-graduate training through the Animal Rehab Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
This enables us to apply physical therapy assessment and treatment methods to dogs and horses.
We can provide a diagnosis for your pet’s lameness or physical condition and will always work closely
with your Vet to provide the best cohesive care.
Physiotherapy improves the physical function and overall well being of your animal. Whether recovering from an injury or surgery, managing age-related changes or a chronic disease, physiotherapy intervention will enhance healing, optimize all aspects of pain free movement and help your favorite family member more rapidly resume a high quality of life.
We work with you to rehabilitative your animal by providing advice, hands on treatment, therapeutic modalities, in-clinic exercise therapy and instruction and progression of a safe home program.
Just like human athletes, sports horses and competitive dogs can have a performance issue that is related to an underlying muscle imbalance, injury, or undiagnosed pain.
Physiotherapy is very helpful in getting to the bottom of an issue and fixing it. The quicker we target the problem the faster we can aid in a full recovery and maximal achievement!

You are paying for your physio’s time and expertise; she will select treatment techniques and modalities for each session that will achieve the best results for your animal.
This includes everything – manual therapy, laser, acupuncture, taping, etc. You will also be taught therapeutic exercise and hands-on skills to help restore correct movements and more rapidly build strength. Practicing together regularly at home will help to achieve faster and more sustainable results.
This question is easier to answer once the assessments has been completed and an accurate diagnosis made.
We can then discuss an individualized treatment plan with you. The number of sessions often depends on how acute the problem is and how much pain your animal is in.
Typically, weekly therapy appointments for 3-4 sessions allow us to get on top of the key problems and we can then taper off.
Many senior dog’s physical function and health can be maintained with a monthly ‘tune-up’ appointment.
We allow 60-minutes for all new assessments and canine follow-up appointments are scheduled for 30-
minutes.
Equine follow-up appointments are 60-minutes, however if multiple horses/ponies are being treated at
1 barn and 30-minutes is sufficient (e.g., for manual therapy, laser, and acupuncture treatments) then
30-minute appointments can be scheduled.
The travel/barn fee is equally divided by the equine owners.
While we mostly work with dogs and horses, our animal rehab assessment and treatment techniques can be transferred to other animals.
We have worked with cats and rabbits and are open to other species too!
Animal rehab appointments are very interactive and need to be a positive experience for your pet.
You will always see the same therapist and a special bond often develops. This is helped by using treats or positive behavior feedback to motivate your animal and we always keep exercises session fun.
Many owners comment on how their pet loves going for their therapy session.
No, animals provide excellent feedback, and we observe very closely to make sure that they are comfortable and relaxing into treatment.
We would never continue with a technique if your per became stressed or showed any signs of discomfort.
No, we also assess healthy dogs and horses and love to teach you exercises and hands on techniques that you can enjoy doing with your animal.
We will empower you to improve their strength, flexibility, coordination, and agility which will build resilience and help prevent an injury from occurring.
We also work with senior dogs to help manage their weight, arthritis, and declining mobility.
Stay tuned for our future canine fitness and senior circuit classes!
No, Catherine will travel to your barn so that the assessments and treatments take place in a familiar and comfortable environment. It’s much easier and less stressful for a human to travel.
24-hours’ notice is required to cancel a scheduled appointment. With the exception of poor weather and sudden illness, failure to provide adequate notice will result in a 50% fee being applied to your account.
